Memorable Animals

This Doberman pup who was found abandoned in a kennel outside a vet clinic.  He was emaciated and suffering from multiple fractures. Media release. 

Support from Calgarians pours in, hundreds of people offer to foster or adopt this pup and many donations to the phoenix fund are made.  A search warrant is executed and evidence is sent away for processing. Charges are pending in this case. 

The pup who goes by "Mike" is recovering nicely in his foster home.

This is the story of Spirit, or rather the Spirit of Christmas. 

Spirit was found in a garbage dumpster during compaction and was brought to the Humane Society by a truck driver of BFI.  Spirit gave birth to four puppies two days later here in the shelter.  Her survival was a Christmas miracle so CHS staff named her pups all from A Christmas Carol as Fanny, Marley, Ebeny and Tiny Tim.  Media release. 

A series of YouTube videos were created to showcase all the different departments of CHS and how Spirit's story touched every aspect of CHS, including how they grew up in their foster home.  View the videos.

Spirit and each of her puppies have all been adopted into loving homes.
