How To Adopt
If you are interested in any of the animals shown on our website, call 403-205-4455, send us an email or visit the animals at 4455 - 110 Avenue SE. We have new animals available for adoption every day, and it may take a few visits to the shelter before you find that perfect match. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment. Please take the time to research what type of pet is best suited to your lifestyle. You will notice that some of the dogs on our website have specific adoption requirements. These restrictions or requirements are placed out of genuine concern for the animals in our care and in consideration of any potential adopters.
To speed up the adoption process, print off and fill out these forms and bring them with you:
Landlord Permission or Condo Board Permission - If you rent, or own a condo, we need consent from your landlord, or condo board that you can own an animal and state any restrictions to that allowance.
Save time! You can fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire for Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, or Others (guinea pigs, hamsters, birds etc.) This can even help you decide on traits of your new pet to help you choose the right pet for your home.
Pre-Adoption Survey for Barn Cats
Adoption is open from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Phone lines open at 8 a.m. weekdays. Adoptions stop half an hour prior to closing. (You can visit with dogs from 12 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on weekends) Please note that each animal has a reference number - when referring to the pet you are interested in, please refer to its number. The adoption process can take up to a few hours, so please ensure you have enough time to enjoy the experience of finding your new family member!
**Please do not bring your dog to the shelter unless you are coming for classes or have spoken with an Adoption Counselor about setting up a time to introduce your dog to a CHS dog which you have placed on hold for a pending adoption.
