Domestication of Animals Gr. 1-3
Themes: Responsibility, Wild vs. Domesticated Animals, Animal Body Language, Working Animals, Historical Value of Animals, History of Domestication and Human Impact on Animal Life.
This program explores the domestication of companion animals and how they have come to share our homes. Students will explore the similarities and differences between our pets and their domestic ancestors. Students will create a timeline through an interactive activity and examine the history of animal domestication, the care and needs of animals and the responsibility humans have for our domesticated species. Also included are animal body language and the roles animals play today compared to their historical roles. Alberta Learning Curriculum Connections
