Barbara Walmer CPDT-KSA, CBCC-KA, KPA CTP
Barbara is currently the Department Head of Behaviour at the Calgary Humane Society. She has been training and working with dogs professionally for over 15 years. Her qualifications include: Certified Pet Dog Trainer Knowledge & Skills Assessed (CPDT-KSA), Tellington TTouch Practitioner Level 2, Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Certified Training Partner (CTP), TAGteach Level 1, and Certified Behaviour Consultant Canine – Knowledge Assessed. She is also currently a member of: Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT) and Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). Outside of work, Barbara enjoys training and competing with her own dogs. She currently shares her home with two Golden Retrievers, and a Papillion.

Kirsty Pearson CPDT-KA, KPA CTP
Kirsty’s love of dogs has taken her to many avenues in the dog world. After working for twelve years at a dog training facility she joined the Calgary Humane Society Behavior department five years ago. Kirsty brings a wealth of knowledge to the team and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior. On a personal note, Kirsty is a Border Collie enthusiast participating in many dog sports including herding and agility. She is also a certified NADAC agility judge traveling throughout Canada and United States. Through her passion Kirsty is always striving for achievement bringing the best out of her dogs.

Mariah Luchsinger
Mariah has a lifetime love and appreciation for dogs. Her experience includes working as a horse trainer and at a doggie daycare. Mariah decided dogs are easier to have in her home so she lives with 3 dogs - a great Dane named Xaiver, Arwen the Boarder Collie and Willow the Cocker Spaniel. Mariah is a member of the Calgary Humane Society Behaviour Department and is currently completing her Karen Pryor Academy Certification as well as working towards her CPDT-KA

Cindy Peacock CPDT-KA, KPA CTP
Cindy’s long career started as a child rescuing neighbourhood kittens and puppies, and has since included diverse experiences such as providing a foster home and to facilitate the rescue of over 100 unwanted animals, a board position for a local animal rescue organization, and most recently a position as a keeper at the Calgary zoo. Cindy is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA). She shares her home with 2 rescued cats, two rescued dogs and an incredibly patient husband. Cindy is currently a contract trainer and volunteer foster home for the Calgary Humane Society.

Jennifer Mann
Jenn Mann – Professional Dog Trainer & Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner,Dog Trainers' Apprentice Program Calgary Humane Society,Full Member of APDT Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Level 1 Practitioner of HTA Healing Touch for Animals, Certified in Pet First Aid Prairie Training Services Ltd. In 2008 she completed the Calgary Humane Society’s Dog Trainers Apprenticeship program. Feeling everyone should know these life changing methods, she now teaches classes to coach dog owners of all breeds. Crediting the positive reinforcement method with teaching her patience and to be a better wife, mother, friend, teacher, sister, daughter and of course… dog owner. Jenn is so grateful for the opportunity to teach and learn with each dog & owner who cross her path.

Nicky Blackshaw
Nicky Blackshaw is a certified dog trainer with nearly 10 years experience working with dogs of all temperaments, breeds, and backgrounds. Her expertise spans behaviour assessments, behaviour modification programs, one-on-one coaching, working within a shelter environment, and teaching group classes. Staying up to date on the latest theories and techniques of reward-based training and canine behaviour is critical to ensuring Nicky has the best background possible to assist you and your canine companion. Nicky is working on completing her CPDT-KA and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT)

Joyce Walkerdine BSc., CPDT-KA
Joyce is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, CPDT-KA, with professional membership in the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers. She is also a Tellington Touch Practioner and has a diploma in canine fitness from the Companion Animal Sciences Institute. Joyce spent 10 years working with the Calgary Humane Society and gained valuable experience in dog behaviour as well as teaching classes and seminars. She currently lives with 2 dogs, a cattle dog and a shepard cross. Joyce and her dogs are avid hikers, spending lots of time in the mountains exploring as well as guiding others and their dogs on day hikes.

Kristi Berlin KPA - CTP
She has been working with CHS for over two years now and has thoroughly enjoyed advancing her career in the dog world. She went through the CHS Apprenticeship Program and was later invited to join the training team. Her passion for training developed when Kristi was volunteering as a dog walker at the shelter and was troubled by how many young healthy dogs were being surrendered. Due to a lack of socialization and obedience skills some dogs were difficult to adopt into new homes, and Kristi wanted to help those dogs succeed. She is currently working towards becoming a CPDT-KA, a Tellington TTouch Practitioner, and a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner. Kristi shares her home with her two Standard Poodles, Zoe and Skip, and her husband, John.

Shannon Buckland CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP
Shannon is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP). Her and her husband share their home with 2 dogs (both adopted from different animal rescue associations) and 2 cats (brothers adopted from CHS). Having adopted a dog with major issues, Shannon was drawn to the dog training industry after discovering the power of positive reinforcement. She continues to expand her knowledge by regularly attending seminars, workshops and conferences.
