Calgary Humane Society has a tremendous roster of donors coming from all places and backgrounds.
Some make a single donation while others are monthy PAWS supporters. Some donate items we need from our wishlist while others donate their time and effort as a volunteer. We are so thankful for all of our donors and the different ways they give. We cannot do the work that we do without your support.
Today we are highlighting one of our younger supporters, Quinn, who has become famous for his annual bake sale!
Why did you first begin fundraising for Calgary Humane Society?
I just love animals and believe in the work the Humane Society does. They treat animals really well and you can tell that the staff really care about the animals.
What do you love most about being involved with Calgary Humane Society?
I love to see the animals get adopted and find homes.
How has being a part of Calgary Humane Society impacted you?
It makes me feel good helping all the animals and knowing my support helps them get fed, get new toys and get adopted.
What is one thing you wish other people knew about Calgary Humane Society?
They treat the animals really well and that the staff love them; they play with them and stuff like that. It’s not like the Pound. The staff care about the animals and don’t euthanize them to make more space.
What would you tell other people who are thinking about fundraising for Calgary Humane Society?
Go for it. The animals need all the support they can get. They need your support to get them help and get them adopted. Also, they’re a not-for-profit organization.
Why do you do this every year when you could be spending your free time doing what other kids your age do in their spare time?
In the long run- I mean yeah, going to the mall, or playing video games or whatever is fun in the moment, but in the long run I know doing it (running an annual bake sale) is helping the animals.
This year will be Quinn’s 7th annual bake sale to support CHS. The first year, his bake sale table was in front of his house but in subsequent years he has moved to in front of the Britannia Liquor store which provided a much better location and pretty clever on Quinn’s part because as he says, “that’s how Spolumbo’s started!”.
