There are three different ways youth can become involved in helping animals for all ages during the school year! Our Youth Involvement Opportunities are a fun way to interact with the animals and learn leadership, compassion, care, empathy and respect. Are you already interested? Browse our three clubs below!
Kids For Animals Club (Ages 7-9)
The goal of the Kids for Animals Club is to learn as much as possible about all animals. The more we know about animals and their needs, the better we are able to be their friends. In the Kids for Animals Club we believe in the humane treatment of all animals.
The Kids for Animals Club members develop a keen interest in all animals, learn about their environment and explore the many facets of an animal shelter through crafts, activities and animal guests!
Junior Ambassador Club (Ages 10-12)
Junior Ambassadors will begin to build leadership skills and continue learning about all of the animals that share our world. Our Junior Ambassadors perform duties around the shelter, learn more about the care and handling of animals and create their own fundraiser project with guidance from our Youth Programs Leaders.
Youth Ambassador Club (Ages 13-16)
This program provides youth with a positive and active involvement through interaction with the animals and designated structured fundraising activities. Our goal with this program is to establish further awareness of humane education and a sense of social responsibility among the youth of today.
Over 16 Years Old?
Please check our volunteer page. Where there are volunteer needs at the shelter, we post applications for the positions and shifts that we (and the animals!) need support with. There are select volunteer positions that are available at Calgary Humane Society that have a minimum age requirement of 16 years old (like Bunny Hugger). If those positions are not available or the shifts we are placing for do not fit your schedule when you are exploring, please just keep checking back!
