Seized animals surrendered

Update – June 24, 2017

On April 24 Calgary Humane Society received a number of animals from Alberta SPCA following a seizure at a property owned by Ty Marshall. On June 20th we learned Mr. Marshall had applied for a development permit for a dog breeding and sales operation.

Thanks to community support including close to 200 letters from concerned citizens to Vulcan County Council, the application was denied. We are pleased to say most of the animals seized by Alberta SPCA have now been surrendered allowing us to find those animals in our care, wonderful forever homes.

These animals will not be ready for Adoption right away so please keep an eye on our website. We want to thank all of the animal welfare agencies, veterinary clinics, our volunteers, foster parents and staff who have worked with us and waited so patiently for this day to come.

We weren’t able to keep all of the animals and sadly due to a bylaw technicality, some will have to be returned to Mr. Marshall. But know this, we will continue to do our best everyday to help any animal who needs us.
