Thanks to you, the homeless animals in our community receive the protection, care, and medical attention they need, but most importantly, they experience hope: the hope of finding their forever home.

From all of the surrendered, abandoned and seized animals who arrive at Calgary Humane Society each day – thank you!  They are so grateful for the second chance they have been given and this is only because of your generosity!

You may not know this, but Calgary Humane Society is an open-admission shelter. This means we never turn an animal away. No matter what condition the animal is in when they arrive, our open-door policy means they are welcome, they will get the help they need, and they will have a home here for as long as they need one.  This includes animals just like Teddy.

Teddy came to Calgary Humane Society after falling six stories from an apartment balcony. He suffered from two broken front legs, a broken jaw, and several facial fractures. Teddy needed a number of surgeries immediately upon arrival, including a leg amputation and jaw wiring. This meant around-the-clock care was needed for Teddy to ensure he remained still and to feed him every four hours with a special feeding tube.  Despite Teddy’s serious injuries, these hardships did not stop Teddy from being his warm and loving self. His resiliency amazed us, and after months of care, he was adopted and began his new life in a loving home.

We have had an incredibly challenging year at Calgary Humane Society. So far this year we have taken in 3,880 animals, served over 20,000 pounds of food, and performed 1,939 surgeries by September 30th, and you have been there along the way.

To continue providing the critical services these animals desperately need to survive, please consider supporting our “Home for the Holidays” campaign through a one-time gift, or by joining our PAWS Monthly Donor Program. The PAWS monthly donations not only help animals each day as a consistent source of funding, but also help reduce administrative costs related to gift processing. This means more of your giving goes directly to helping the animals who need it most.

From all of us at Calgary Humane Society, we wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and hope that the magic fills every corner of your heart and home with joy. All of the very best for 2020!

With warmest regards and our sincere gratitude,

Carrie Fritz
