Spay & Neuter: Prevention Starts Here
Double your Impact! Your gift today will be matched up to $10,000, thanks to PetSecure!
Together, we can reduce animal overpopulation, prevent unnecessary suffering, and build a more compassionate Calgary.
Spaying and neutering are one of the most effective ways to improve the health and well-being of pets while preventing uwanted litters and reducing the number of animals entering shelters. For many families, however, the cost of these procedures can be a barrier. By supporting community spay and neuter clinics, you are:
- Preventing unwanted litters, helping reduce pet overpopulation.
- Improving long-term health by lowering the risk of reproductive cancers and infections.
- Helping to reduce unwanted behaviours, such as marking, mounting, and roaming.
- Reinforcing responsible pet ownership and helping families support and care for the animals who are an important part of their family.
Our goal is simple: to keep animals with the families who love them, while building a strong in-house program and a citywide network of veterinary partners committed to responsible pet ownership and equitable access to care.

This initiative is supported by Petsecure, Canada’s first and leading pet insurance provider. Petsecure is committed to helping families plan for their pets’ health by reducing the financial burden of unexpected veterinary costs. Pet insurance helps you prepare for the unexpected, whether it’s an accident, emergency, or illness, by covering up to 80% of eligible veterinary costs. With four plan options and two deductible choices, you can find coverage that fits your needs and budget. Plus, once a condition is covered, it’s covered for life, giving you peace of mind and lasting support for your pet’s health.
*Supported by a grant from Definity Financial Corporation, Petline Insurance Company*
Since launch in 2024, our clinics have helped 334 animals like Leo stay healthy and home.

“This program gave me access to quality veterinary care at an affordable cost. It has given me peace of mind knowing that Leo has received important preventive care, and it has helped me be a more responsible pet owner.”

A gift of $85 protects a vulnerable kitten with a life-saving vaccination. $500 covers a spay surgery, helping prevent the next unplanned litter. And $5,000 funds a full day of appointments, helping dozens of families access essential care at once.
For many Calgary families, pets are family.
They are the ones waiting at the door, curling up beside us at the end of the day, and bringing comfort, companionship and joy into our lives. But when the cost of veterinary care becomes difficult to manage, even families doing everything they can to care for their pets can find themselves facing impossible choices.
