Dewie is a 1 year old male Medium Mixed Breed who weighs 64 pounds.

Meet the adorable Dewie! Dewie's shelter story started after being found on the Trans Canada Highway, but he's ready to leave that chapter behind and start a new one full of safety, security and love. This enthusiastic, people-loving boy is enjoying being cared for and no longer has to worry about when his next meal will be (or his next walk!).

Dewie is still learning the ropes of home life, but he's highly motivated by toys and treats! Using these rewards for continued positive reinforcement training will help teach him some much-needed life skills, doggy manners and confidence! An active pup, Dewie is looking for a home that can keep up with his energy and help guide him through the puppy-like behaviours he never had a chance to grow out of. He'd do best with an experienced family and without young children.

In shelter, Dewie has shown reactivity towards other dogs, and we are not sure how he'd do with cats or small animals. If you have a calm, confident resident pup who could help Dewie "dog", the shelter staff would be happy to try a dog introduction here! If you have a feline friend, slow intros should be done at home under close supervision.

Life may be new to Dewie, but he's embracing it with a smile on his face (seriously, look at it!) and he's ready to learn what it means to be a cherished companion. Could that be with you?
