Meet Winkie - a sweet bird named after a pigeon war hero who is ready to find their forever home! Winkie will need a large cage. The minimum recommended space would be at least 4 feet long, 2 feet deep, and 2.5 feet high, though even with that space, they will need daily exercise outside of the cage once they are settled in. The cage is best equipped with shelves rather than perches (or a combination of the two) as pigeons naturally like to strut around on a flat surface. On that note, the floor of the cage should be covered with wood, linoleum, or a trimmed mat, as the bare wire will be uncomfortable and possibly cause issues with their feet. Pigeons seem to really enjoy having a mirror in their enclosure for a fun enrichment, along with a couple of bird-friendly toys. Lastly, it is recommended that they have avian-friendly, full spectrum lighting to mimic the natural light that they are used to.
