Meet Paddington

All about Paddington
Animal ID: 2000495664

Paddington is a 8 months old female Shepherd/Mix who weighs 40 pounds.

Have you ever wished you could have your own Paddington bear? Well, now you can! Sort of. This Paddington - or Patty, as her friends call her - is not a bear, but rather a very close doggie look-alike! This young cutie was found as a stray on a campground and is still getting used to life as an indoor companion pup. She can be a bit fearful in new environments and may also need a few moments to warm up to new people, but it doesn't take long (especially with treats)! Once she's comfortable, Patty turns into a total teddy bear. She will try to convince you that she's a lap dog, but if she can't fit, she's content to lean into your hands and legs for scratches instead. She's working on her basic life skills, such as walking on leash, potty training, and being desensitized to loud noises and indoor spaces. Patty would love a patient family that can help her build confidence and learn how to be a "pet". Due to her unknown history, we are not sure how Patty would do with other animals, so slow intros will be important! We also don't know how she'll do with kids, but because she's a nervous pup, toddlers and babies might not be best. Patty has all the qualities of being the perfect pup - she just needs the right person or family to bring those out!

Paddington is:
- unknown with kids, supervised interactions required
- unknown with cats, slow intros required
- unknown with dogs, successful intros at shelter required
- little to no life skills, will need a patient family

Note that many dogs do not reach full size until they are about a year and a half old. The weight listed here is the dog's current weight.
