Meet Bluebell

All about Bluebell
Animal ID: 2000326909

Bluebell is a female Budgie/Budgerigar bird.

Age: adult

Bluebell is a little acrobat who loves to hang upside down in her cage, and enjoys gentle head strokes and eating out of hands. She was found as a injured stray in very poor shape, but with the support of our Animal Health team and her loving foster family, Bluebell has recovered well and is excited to meet her adoptive parents! With her friendly nature, we suspect Bluebell was previously a pet, and it's not hard to guess how this little lady escaped! She's super smart, very friendly, and definitely harbors some escape artist tendencies. Sadly, Bluebell's wing injury is permanent, and she will likely never be able to fly properly. Fortunately, budgies are well adapted to climbing and exploring through tree foliage using their strong beaks and toes. Bluebell with benefit from a cage filled with a variety of enrichment items and perches to allow her to safely navigate. We also recommend making a plan to monitor her wing regularly with your avian vet, as Bluebell may be at increased risk of arthritis in her injured wing. If you can give this sweet girl the extra consideration she needs, you'll be rewarded with plenty of cheerful song and affection - her foster family thinks Bluebell may even be interested in learning to sit on your shoulder!
