Cookie is a 15 years old female Turtle reptile.

Cookie is an active and curious girl looking for her forever home! Red Footed tortoises like Cookie are tons of fun to have around, but they need experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated owners to keep them healthy and happy. Tortoises are used to a much warmer and more humid environment than our Calgary climate, so Cookie must be provided with a large, humidified enclosure complete with a basking/heat lamp and UVB bulb. Cookie will need an enclosure with a recommended minimum of 8' by 4' floor space that can hold on to humidity in the air - tortoises need 70%-90% ambient humidity. Due to the demanding husbandry and humidity needs, Cookie would not be able to have free roam time for very long, unless she was outside on a hot Summer day! Cookie's diet consists of 90% plant matter and 10% animal matter. New adopters should do research into tortoise care and consider speaking with a current owner or reptile vet before making the decision to move forward. Keeping a tortoise is a lot of work, but when done well, you'll be rewarded with a wonderful friend who could keep you company into her fifties! Where will you be in 30 years?
