Nine Lives Society
Legacy gifts guarantee that our important programs will be available well into the future. These life-saving programs include shelter and protection of animals in need, veterinary care, animal neglect and cruelty investigations, and a number of community programs such as behaviour classes, pet safekeeping, emergency boarding and humane education classes and clubs to develop our next-generation of animal advocates.
When you choose Calgary Humane Society as a beneficiary of your legacy plans, you become a member of the Nine Lives Society.
Nine Lives Society members want to continue making a difference in animals’ lives today and in the future through their legacy gifts. These lasting gifts are a critical source of funding to ensure Calgary Humane Society is here for the next 100 years to help each and every animal that arrives at our shelter.
Members of our Nine Lives Society share two things in common: they have chosen Calgary Humane Society as a beneficiary of their legacy plans and their love to help animals in need. As a member of the Nine Lives Society, you know that your generosity, compassion and love for animals will make a difference in the future.
A gift to Calgary Humane Society in your Will is a simple and effective way to help ensure that Calgary Humane Society will continue to provide the care and the programs that are so desperately needed. You can leave a gift in your Will either as a specific amount or as a residual portion of your Estate. Bequests made to a charitable organization such as Calgary Humane Society can positively impact Estate taxes when planned correctly.
A life insurance policy allows you to make a major donation at a modest cost. It is an excellent tool that helps you leave a significant legacy gift to Calgary Humane Society. You can leave a legacy through a life insurance policy by naming Calgary Humane Society as the beneficiary and owner of a new or an existing life insurance policy. Under certain circumstances, you will receive tax receipts for the amount of the insurance premiums paid each year.
One of the most financially beneficial ways to support Calgary Humane Society is through a gift of publicly traded securities. Donating publicly traded stocks, mutual funds, and other types of securities directly to Calgary Humane Society can reduce your capital gains tax on these securities and receive a tax receipt for the full market value.
