Euthanasia decisions are made solely in instances of medical concerns that cannot reasonably be treated by CHS, or in cases of behavioral concerns that pose a significant risk to the dog itself or the community. These decisions are based on a comprehensive assessment by the CHS veterinary and behavior teams.

By selecting this box, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to abide by the CHS behavior policy. I understand that as a Fur-Low volunteer, I am required to adhere to all instructions provided by CHS staff, including behavior management. This is done to ensure the safety of both the individual and the dog. CHS adheres to positive reinforcement and force-free training philosophies, and I agree to respect and follow these training methods at all times.

• Separation from Resident Pets: I understand that Fur-Low animals must be kept separate from resident pets at all times during the Fur-Low placement. If I choose to extend the Fur-Low placement into a Foster placement, I will notify the Foster Team, and appropriate instructions for co-housing will be provided.
• Return Policy: I agree to return the animal to CHS at the agreed-upon time. If I am running late, I will provide notice in advance. If I need to extend the Fur-Low duration, I will proactively request an extension from CHS.
• Off-Leash Policy: I understand that dogs under the Fur-Low program are not permitted to visit off-leash parks and must remain securely on a leash at all times when outdoors. Dogs may only be removed from the leash in a contained area, such as a home, fenced yard, or private dog park.
• Communication Policy: I agree to remain in regular contact with the CHS foster team. This includes providing timely updates on the dog’s well-being and promptly reporting any concerns related to the dog’s behavior or health.
• Communicable Disease Policy: I understand that dogs approved for the Fur-Low program will be medically assessed, vaccinated, and approved by the CHS veterinary team. However, I acknowledge that CHS cannot guarantee that the dog is not incubating a communicable or zoonotic disease, and I assume this risk.

Promoting Your Fur-Low Experience on Social Media
As a Fur-Low Volunteer with the Calgary Humane Society (CHS), you are encouraged to share your experience and help promote the dogs in your care through your personal social media channels. Your posts can play a crucial role in helping these animals find their forever homes. However, to ensure that all content aligns with CHS values and contributes positively to the community, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Keep It Positive
• All content shared on social media should be positive and supportive of the dog’s well-being.
• Avoid sharing any negative or potentially distressing information about the dog, CHS, or the program.
• Focus on highlighting the dog’s personality, activities, and adoptability in a cheerful and optimistic manner.
Be Mindful of What You Share
• Ensure that all photos and videos posted are appropriate and reflect positively on the dog, yourself, and CHS.
• Pay attention to the background of your photos and videos, ensuring that no inappropriate or private items, people, or locations are visible.
• Only share images that maintain the dignity and safety of the dog, as well as respect the privacy of any individuals involved.
Use of Animal’s CHS-Provided Name
Fur-Low Volunteers are required to use the name provided by CHS when referring to the animal in any social media posts. This ensures consistency in the animal’s identity across all platforms and enhances the likelihood of recognition by potential adopters.
Tag Calgary Humane Society
• When posting about your Fur-Low experience, please tag the Calgary Humane Society in your posts. This helps us amplify the reach of your content and provides additional exposure for the animals.
