Unleash Happiness. One Fur-Low at a Time
Calgary Humane Society’s Fur-Low program lets you unleash joy for a shelter dog! Every walk, cuddle, and adventure gives them a much-needed break from the busy shelter environment, helping reduce stress and boost their overall well-being. Studies show that a dog is 5 times more likely to be adopted after going on a short-term shelter break. If you extend that break to a longer-term foster placement, their chances of finding a forever home increase by an incredible 14 times. Here’s how you can make a real difference:
- Embark on Adventures: Take a dog on a scenic hike through approved areas like Fish Creek Park, Kananaskis, Bragg Creek, and other breathtaking locations.
- Create a Backyard Holiday: Offer a dog a peaceful retreat in your backyard, where they can stretch their legs, play, and enjoy the simple pleasures of being outside.
- Host a Cozy House Break: Providing them with a comfortable and loving environment, can make a world of difference in their demeanor and adoptability.
The Fur-Low program requires dogs to be picked up and returned to the shelter on the same day at predetermined times.
Please note that not all dogs on Fur-Low are adoptable at the time of your shift. Calgary Humane Society website has the most up to date adoptable dogs listed; and social media for these dogs is encouraged to help them find their forever home
