On a sunny summer day in September, Louis the dashing hound mix arrived at Calgary Humane Society. As summer turned to fall, Louis soon won hearts with his puppy-like outlook on life, love for humans big and small, and zest for adventure. As the days grew shorter and colder Louis continued to win admirers, greeting potential new friends at his kennel door with a wagging tail. (And sometimes a bit of noise... can you blame a hound?) Now, as spring comes upon us, we realize that our sweetest of boys has spent two full seasons of the year in our care. Louis brightened the dark days of fall and winter for shelter staff - now, as the days warm and lengthen it's time that we return the favour. Louis is an active boy who thrives on outdoor adventure, although at home he generally prefers a good snuggle session on the couch (or on your lap!). He's a true socialite who's thrived in a household with children, although due to his size and energy, older kids are recommended for playmates. Speaking of playmates, cats and other small animals are a no-go due to his high prey drive, but he might be okay with another dog. Louis' previous home reports some potential signs of separation stress, so some reassurance, love and a bit of positive reinforcement training would benefit him tremendously!
