A little bit about me:
- Select dogs okay (pending successful introduction)
- Cats/small animals unknown
- Children okay (unknown history)

Keegan arrived at Calgary Humane as a stray way back in March so his history is unknown; however he spent some time in a foster home in June where we learned a lot more about him in a short period of time!

He is a sweet boy that loves people and attention. Keegan is greatly loved by the Staff and Volunteers at Calgary Humane. Before going to a foster home dog walkers often requested to walk him because of his sweet demeanor and wonderful leash skills.

While in his foster home, he has shown the ability to cope when left alone and understand basic commands. We have been actively working on rewarding Keegan's calm behaviours and self-soothing techniques while he learns independence. Historically, he was known for being a shadow to his humans and consistently looking for human validation. Through a structured lifestyle with daily walks, food puzzles, and short 5-10 minute training sessions periodically practiced, he has learned more independence.

Keegan still looks to his humans for guidance and reassurance from time to time, so it's important that his new home approaches him with curiosity, patience and understanding. He is very loving, quick to learn and he is also very clumsy. He is still learning how to coordinate his lanky and tall body. Keegan's nickname is "Zoboomafoo" like the famous 90's TV lemur. He has an exceptionally long tail that resembles that of a lemur. Yes, he enjoys it when you sing the theme song to him...

From Keegan:
They've noticed that I have this thing called "anxiety" which causes me to feel stress when there are changes in my environment. Thankfully, the team at Calgary Humane has prescribed me some daily medication to help me cope with transitions until my routine in my forever home is established. My foster parents often tell me that "It's okay that your serotonin is store-bought".

I love to keep busy by going on long sniff walks, working for my food by using puzzle toys and practicing my basic obedience to build trust with my humans. I've also been practicing my artistic side, please ask to see my artwork!
